gay marriage ban

I would have never thought, that such a proposal would pass both chambers and also so clearly. I would have thought that Virginia would be less conversative. The banning of same sex marriage doesn't work today anymore, in my opinion.
What has happenden to the "land of freedom"?How can you ban someones freedom after the country worked 200 years on giving people their original rights back?
I think it would be a huge step backwards if that would become law in Virginia.

I think it is good that president bush proposed a new temporary worker programm. It is good to offer jobs to people who need it and want to have it, also if they are from another country. I don't know how the process is at the moment, but I also agree, that people who have been working here and want to stay in the USA, should of course have the same chance and the same pocedure,to get an US citizen, as someone who hasn't been working here yet.

detainees in Guantanamo Bay

The government of the USA has detainees ina military prison in Guantanamo Bay. But this is not a normal prison, after many reports it is obvious, that the prisoners have neithe received a fair jury trial nor are all of them imprisoned because of good reasons.

I believe, that this process going on, should have consequences for the American government or at least the ones, who are actually responsible for all of it.
The article describes that it is against all democratic rights, and also against the "genfer konvention", which is about war prisoners, to keep the people in Guantanamo bay. That is so because, they first of all would have to have the same conditions as every american detainee has. They are also not allowed to inquire war-prisoners, instead they have to be handed back to their country after the war finishes.
What comes to these points is, that in many casess it is not even clear, why the people were imprisoned. And often it is also not "bestaetigt" that the reasons, if any, are true.
Also the white house lately agreed, that deathcells could be build in Guantanamo Bay. This wouldn't be necessary, if everyone would follow the laws, the Genfer konvention as well as the Habeus corpus pact.

The next article I read wrote about the bad conidtions, under which the detainees have to live.

It is hard to imagine living like this, without any hope to ever be free again, because the detainees have no opportunity to talk to either a lawyer nor a family member.

I think it is unexaptable, that even now that the white house has allowed these prisons to be build. It is even more curious that the president defended the whole thing. He wanted to convince people that no such thing as torture is going on in Guantanamo bay and that everything tehy are doing is just. But I don't believe him, and I wonder how many people still do. After so many things he lied about, in regard to the iraque war. I more believe all the other reports, written by the ones who are affected in any way with this prison.

The Birdflu has killed 60 people in Asia already, and officials belive that it will come in this week to Europe. I think the Birdflu and every other kind of pandemic is so scariing, because we cannot do anything about it. It just goes around the world, and we cannot help it because we cannot avoid any contacts with other countries because of a disease. And still so many people could die because of it.

I liked the statements of Tim Kaine better. Kilgore repeated always that Kaine would raise taxes and used "commonwealth" so often. I don't agree with him on the most issues like death penalty and abortion. I also think that he did not seem very self confident yesterday night. He was defensive and I had the feeling that he said more about what Kaine wanted to do and what was wrong about that then what he had to say about his program.

Hurricane Katrina-did the government do a good job?

In my opinion the government shouldn't have only reacted much faster after the hurricane hit New Oleans, but they could have also done a lot before Katrina did so.
I heard that in the USA, there are the three big emergencies, one of them is a direct hit by a hurricane on New Orleans. Another thing is a terroristic attack to New York. I think, since the organisation was not very well on 09/11, where noboy could see what was happening, the government could at least have prepared everybody this time, when it was at least 1 day earlier for sure, that Katrina would hit New Orleans.
The government started the project PAM last year, which was a good start, I think. But they didn't finish it because they ran out of money. I can't blame them for not beeing able to finish the project, but I do blame them for not thinkink about it anymore, they should have known that not all of the people could leave the town, because there are the ones who are too old, too sick or too poor to be able to do so. There was no plan for those people.
There was also no organisation how and when help should arrive, things like blankets were missing, things that you have gotten easily to New Orleans if anybody would have told to do so.

On Wednesday the highest gasoline price was found at Hawai Honolulu. The lowest prices were found in San Antonio, Texas, I think there are the lowest prices because it is so close to the gulf of mexico, so they aren’t dependent on the transportation of the gas, as most of the other states are.

3. Describe the changes in gasoline prices in the last fifty years.
From 1955 until 1970, the gasoline price went down, from 1.91$ to 1.59$ per gallon. The following 5 years it decreased and then it suddenly went up straight in 1985 to 2.59$ per gallon and until 85 down again. After1985 the prices decreased continently until 2004. This year the gasoline prices made the biggest jump since the last 50 years from 1.79$ to 3.05 $ per gallon

I think the article is so good, I really do agree with it. The president cares too less about his country and the people who are living in the United States. I just wonder why he shows it that much, it seems to me as if he also dosen't cares what the peoples think about him. I think it's kind of ignorant how he acts.
I think one should think about it how George W Bush came to become a president. I agree with the article, if he wouldn't be a BUSH he would have never get so far, his name and the friends of his family helped him so much, it's kind of frightening how much power this one family has in the United States.
